Unity's Runtime Fee stays buried, and the friction moves up a tier

Personal is still free under $200,000. Pro went up 5% in January, and Havok leaves the plan in 6.3.

Unity's Runtime Fee stays buried, and the friction moves up a tier

The per-install Runtime Fee that set the engine's userbase alight is still cancelled, and Unity is explicit that the cancellation applies to every version, Unity 6 included. Nothing about it has come back.

What moved is the subscription. Unity Personal remains free up to $200,000 in annual revenue and funding, which covers most of the studios that panicked in 2023. Above that line, Pro is $2,310 per seat per year, after a 5% increase that took effect on 12 January 2026 and reaches existing subscribers at their next renewal. Havok Physics stops being included with Pro, Enterprise and Industry from Unity 6.3, while free DevOps access widens with unlimited Version Control seats.

The short version for a small team: the thing everyone feared is gone, and the cost is a predictable per-seat line once you clear $200,000.
